Simply The Best: TPOL in 2016

0

It’s now the year of the rooster which does not bode well for those of us born in 1982. Instead of worrying about the future, let’s look at the past to see the top posts from 2016. It’s interesting that my most read post was the one that makes me look the most stupid.

  1. Flying Icelandair by Mistake
This was besides my visa issue the dumbest thing I have ever done while traveling. The next may be publicizing my mistake which most certainly undermines my credibility as a travel expert. Still, if this saves one person from making the same mistake then writing this post was worth it.

2. WOW Air! Bring Your Credit Card

You’ve seen the ads: $99 to Iceland. For that price, you can put me in a Police Academy 5: Assignment Miami Beach chicken filled flight with a crate as my seat. Luckily for us travelers, WOW Air is quite the step up from the Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom airplane.

3. Free Breakfast?! The InterContinental Bora Bora Says No

The real crime is how the hotel has a Nespresso machine but charges $5 for capsule. Come on, that’s just stupid. ‎

4. End of MS Means Get Your Life Together

Now, with the restrictions imposed by banks, the loss of value from devaluations, and the limited MS opportunities, I have to pivot if I want to survive.

5. Making America Great Again: Golden Palm At Trump National Doral

Trump National is Bushwood Country Club only Judge Smails is the Donald. Everything about it is over-the-top and gaudy, Emirates style.

Those of you who know me already are aware of my nickname, The Fat Guy in the Lounge.

7. 10 M Life Perks for Non Gamblers in Vegas

Vegas is the city of comps for the gambler but what about those of us who are too unlucky to win at anything? Are we supposed to pay for what others get for ‘free’

9. Guns & Butter: Grand Cayman Travel Guide

This is the easiest Travel Guide I have written. Grand Cayman takes away the hectic lifestyle and replaces it with days and nights doing nothing.

10. Singapore Airlines First to Moscow: Lobster, Krug, Givenchy, Prada

I begin this review with the sad news that SQ no longer flies from Houston to Moscow, Russia. The new routing is Houston to Manchester, England. That’s the only negative you will find in this report as everything else was basically perfect.
