Heaven Must’ve Sent You: The St. Regis Osaka

This is part of the Trip Report The Visa Run Keeps Running (October 2014) which started and ended in Mongolia with these stops along the way:

Here is the overview for this report: All in Business, All for $200 And $30,000 US AIR Miles

Getting There: I came from the Hyatt Osaka so I can’t advise on an efficient way to get to the St. Regis Osaka. Here is what is on their website.

Why do I bother staying anywhere else besides the St. Regis. Whether it be New York or Mauritius, the St. Regis like the Park Hyatt deserves my cash, my points, and my cash + points.

The St. Regis Osaka is not an exception to the rule. It is perfect. Upon check-in we were informed that our room had been upgraded and because there wasn’t a club level for platinums, we would be given $30/day credit towards the mini-bar. I had read online that they used to give unlimited access to the mini-bar which has since been discontinued for the safety of guests like me. We are also given complimentary drinks at the St. Regis bar. As is the tradition, I ordered a Shougun Mary, a derivative of the Bloody Mary, a cocktail invented at the Nat King Cole Bar in the St. Regis New York. In addition breakfast was also included. All this for $135/night + 6000 SPG points. What more could anyone ask for?

Of course, one does not come to Osaka to stay inside. Remove the complimentary kimonos and go explore. The St. Regis Osaka is only a few minutes from Shinsaibashi Street where the craziness and liveliness of Osaka can be found.
