Week 13: Marathon Disaster Update

Thirteen weeks of training is done for the Athens marathon and in order to keep myself honest and motivated, here’s my weekly diary of all things marathon.

Here’s what happened this week:

  • Injury: Achilles. Can barely walk. What the hell. Hopefully just strained.
  • Here’s my newest accessory:

Capture

3 more weeks to go. Unlike last week when I lamented my sorry Lions, this week I ask, “How bout them Wolverines?”

3 weeks. Ow. 3 weeks. Ow. 3 weeks. Ow.

  1. I used that thing when I have a little heel spur injury. It may help. I slept with it. The key was to stretch my foot at night. I have run a number of marathons. I have not run Athens but I have heard about it. Hopefully you can get running in a week or so for some late fine tuning. I assume you have run at least 20 miles at this point in training. Is this your first marathon?

    • 20 mile was supposed to be this week but I think I’m going to skip it. Last time I ran a marathon had a glute injury and only got to 16 miles in training but finished the marathon nonetheless. 3:54:13 in Alaska.

This time not feeling so great! Though that sock has helped a lot. Thanks for the comment.
