I just moved to Scottsdale to golf and perhaps run another marathon (see Athens Marathon Review). To assist my game and my health, I purchased a VivoActive 3 watch, Garmin’s newest watch in the multi-sport app. Unlike the original VivoActive, this one has a built in heart rate monitor which skyrockets as soon as I miss the green on a chip, then miss a put, and then miss another put. It also measures my stress level, something that I do not need a watch to do. While the heart rate monitor is useful for running, the three bests features of the watch are: 1)distance to the pin 2)calculating my pace while running and 3)saving my runs even if they are on the treadmill. The watch also has smart pay so if you’re literally on the run and need to buy something, you can do so. It delivers text, social media, and email notifications but that gets really annoying. I turn the watch off when I’m not golfing or running. Otherwise it would buzz all day.
Bottom line: If you’re a golfer, runner, or swimmer, I recommend getting this watch over the lame Apple one because it does everything you need it to do without dying in less than one day.
