Etihad Arrivals Lounge: Time for a Proper Shave

I was ready to call Uber Abu Dhabi and thought why not stop by the Etihad Arrivals Lounge and find out if the chauffeur service truly wasn’t available. I was told it was because I booked using points through AA. I was also told it was because I was only there for a layover.

While the staff was double-checking, I checked out the lounge and stayed longer than anticipated. It wasn’t futuristic like the Virgin Atlantic Revivals Lounge in London but it did have plenty of snacks, showers, and even the option to get your clothes pressed.

The best amenity was the free shave service. Complimentary to first class passengers, SHAVE by Etihad is something I wish was available to me every day. It seems uncouth for a man to shave on his own with rugged blades when there’s an artist who can do it for you. I’m adding this to the list of must-haves when I grow up.

The chauffeur I will not be taking

After a great shave, I went outside to locate my Uber.

  1. Are you saying the chauffeur isn’t available with any AA J or F bookings, or is it because you only had a layover in AUH? The Flyertalk threads make no mention of a policy change with limo bookings in conjunction with AAdvantage awards.

    • First, I tweeted at Etihad and they said it wasn’t available because of codeshare. Then at the Arrivals Lounge they told me the same thing. Finally, outside the lounge, I asked the Etihad Concierge and they said it was because I had a layover. Can’t say I didn’t try but I can’t confirm why. I know definitively that it is not available for Emirates for codeshare via Alaska but that’s a different matter.

    • Per etihad’s site:
Etihad Chauffeur service is not available to guests travelling on codeshare flights not operated by Etihad Airways. So Jetihad isn’t available but I’m going to change my post to say that it wasn’t available because of layover.

    • Per Etihad’s site ;The service is not available to guests who are waitlisted, in transit or those collecting tickets on departure.

Still not sure why I was given multiple reasons but I guess it doesnt really matter since I’ll always be in transit through Abu Dhabi.
