Michigan vs. Notre Dame: $1240 for a Hyatt Place!

I have cleverly called this trip report : Harbaugh’s Last Chance. Like last year, I am going to Michigan’s opener (see Jerry’s World Trip Report). This year it’s against the Catholic boys of Notre Dame. If there’s a team I hate just as much as Ohio State, it’s Notre Dame. Recalling how much rooms were in Columbus when I went to see Michigan lose to Ohio State (see Buckeyes Wolverines 2016), I decided to book ahead of time. Here is what is available:

Those are some incredible rates. In need of divine intervention, I tried searching for points options in those locations. As you can see, the Aloft did not have any. Here’s what Marriott has available: a screenshot of a hotel

Are they crazy? Look at the categories. Even if I wanted to use my Marriott free night from my Chase card, I could not. Luckily for me and for those of you who want to come, the Hyatt is available for 24k points for two nights:

Of course, the devil is in the details. There is a non-refundable deposit due if you book. I still need to find flights and tickets, but I am tempted to book this and force myself to go see Michigan and Jim Harbaugh underperform.

Anyone else going?

  1. Booked the quality inn for $120 per night for 2 queen room back in September last year when the schedule opened. Only a few blocks from the stadium. You’ve got to get on top of these things earlier.

  2. That Hyatt is just fine, stayed there last November for the Navy game. Ok location though not walkable to the stadium of course unless in a pinch. The rooms are big with sleeper sofa but an odd bathroom configuration. That pizza place nearby, Barnaby, is only ok for drunk food. There’s a mexican joint a block away called Los Aces, muy bien.
