27 euros for two will get you a decently comfortable train to Catania. The trip takes 2 hours and 48 minutes. I ended up in a seat with the only crying baby nearby which was no surprise given the bad luck I was having that day.
Along the way there are nice views of mountains, vineyards, and the Sicilian countryside. There is no WiFi on board and the mobile data is spotty. Even in Palermo, the data is spotty. It only got worse as I headed further south.
If you’re going to Catania, this is a convenient way to go.
