Four Points Sanya: Come for the View, Then Leave

Sanya hotels are too expensive to spend cash and too cheap to use points. (see my post Struggling to Find Where to Stay in Sanya) My first hotel in Sanya was the Four Point Sheraton. It is a decent value at $80 a night but certainly not worth 7,000 SPG points.

Cathay Dragon Coach: Hong Kong to Sanya

It's the last stop on the Year of the Monkey tour, sunny Sanya. I enjoy writing a coach review to mix it up. Who needs champagne on every flight? Sometimes you're too hungover for that.

No Worries: Shenzhen to Hong Kong Via Transfer Van

The Shenzen to Hong Kong Van Transfer Transport Review is part of The Year of the Monkey Trip Report which covers the following places: New York, New York  Bangkok, Thailand Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia  Jakarta, Indonesia Kota Kinabalu,...

Grand Hyatt Shenzhen: Food, Food, Food!

Reviewing the Grand Hyatt Shenzhen after staying at the St. Regis Shenzhen is unfair. Although it's not as extreme, it's like the time I stayed at the Sheraton New York Times Square after staying at my favorite hotel of all time, the St. Regis New York.

Coco Park: A Night Out in Shenzhen

Though it was difficult, I managed to get out of the St. Regis tub and head out for a night on the town. Hong Kong has Lan Kawi Fong. Shenzhen has Coco Park, a bar district with something for everyone.

St. Regis Shenzhen: The Best Hotel in Asia And Beyond

Get out of the way Hyatt Hong Kong. Get out of the way Hong Kong. Shenzhen is not the New Jersey equivalent to New York. It is a bustling metropolis with sights, sounds, and skyscrapers.

Hong Kong to Shenzhen: An Easy Trip on the Train

Can you tell me how to get, how to get to Shenzhen? When I lived in Shanghai years ago, the cheapest way to go on a visa run was to take a flight to Shenzhen and then a bus to Hong Kong.

Premium Lounge Guangzhou: Not Yuck, Not Great

God bless Priority Pass Lounges. When they are good (see ATL, Athens, Gatwick) they can't stack up to the likes of Cathay's The Wing or Emirates First Class Lounge Dubai. When they are terrible, they are victims of my contempt (see Priority Pass Lounge Jakarta and Mexico City).

Park Hyatt Guangzhou: The Sweet Upgrade

There are Park Hyatts and then there are Park Hyatts. Unlike the Park Hyatt Melbourne or the Park Hyatt Toronto, the Park Hyatt Guangzhou falls into the latter category. Situated in the business district of Guangzhou, the Park Hyatt Guangzhou is one of the best Park Hyatts in the collection.

Ganbei! The Guide to Making Friends in China

Nothing is better than going to a city for the first time. This is especially true if that new city happens to be in China. From Shanghai to Shenzhen, each city in China is different. The one constant is how easy it is to make Chinese friends by going out for a night on the town.
