What to Do in Darwin is part of the TPOL Down Under Trip Report.
What’s there to do in Darwin? I’m not to sure because I spent most of my time going into the outback (see The Road to Kakadu: Walking in Dundee’s Footsteps.) However, while I was there, I did manage walk around the city for some food and drink. It reminded me a lot of Chiang Rai, Thailand because there were plenty of backpackers. It also reminded me of Missoula, Montana because of the hippie feel.
Don’t Miss
Crocosaurus Cove: THE CAGE OF DEATH!: Obviously, this is the best thing to do in Darwin.
Ms. TPOL
An artist painted this picture. Apparently, it’s a super model but I’m convinced it’s Ms. TPOL.
Food
Istanbul Kebab: Get the lamb.
Breakfast: Both Coffee Club and The Tap have good breakfast.
Drink
Try 12 beers at Six Tanks for 40AUD. Some were winners, some were losers, the worst being the Italian.
Skip
Pho. It’s terrible (see Pho Darwin: Worst in the World). No need to post pictures.
Stay
Unlike Chiang Rai, I recommend a hostel over a brand name. The DoubleTree was not worth the cash. I could’ve stayed at a hostel in a better location at half the price compared to the the Frontier Hotel (see Stay Local: Nak Nakara Chiang Rai vs. Stay Comfortable: Le Meridien Chiang Rai).
