Simply The Best: September 2018

I like beer! I also liked September. However, I do not like the over-the-top negative comments that come from my posts that poke fun at our President. Jokes are one thing, but name calling is not necessary. I’m not talking about people criticizing me. That’s fine. I’m talking about anonymous commentator A saying something about anonymous commentator B. “How can you trust anonymous sources?!” #unfair

I also understand that many of you read travel blogs to escape politics. What I don’t get is why you don’t just skip over click-bait posts like Dear Mr. President, Leave Air Force One’s Paint Job Alone when you know it’s going to be a smartass post that makes light of the dysfunction in DC. And for those that do click, realize that this is a blog. This is my opinion. This is my personality. This is Sparta! TPOL!

And with that, here are the top posts for the month of September. Notice which one is on top.

  1. Thank You Trump! Best Marriott Anniversary Night Redemption

The only hotel I found that qualified for my anniversary certificate was the Fairfield Inn New York Manhattan/Financial District. The hotel usually goes for $200 a night, but thanks to the nations united, it can be yours for the retail price of $800, before tax.
  2. “You Leave Only with Passport!” Detained in Tel Aviv Again

a cart with boxes on it
I will start my post by showing you a photo of what I arrived with in Warsaw. You’ll notice that these are not my carry on bags. So what happened?
  3. Pressured Into Tipping! I Hate Credit Card Processing Tablets

I do not appreciate when waiters ask the question, “Do you want to leave a tip?” It is impolite. My anti-tipping stance aside, don’t you agree?
  4. House Hunters (Semi) International: Where to Live in Puerto Rico

    a map of a city
Who would’ve thought that there are so many choices for where to live on an island. I think the best thing would be to look at all of them and evaluate which one is best.
  5. TPOL’s Guide to A Night in Tel Aviv: Breakfast Included

a disco ball in a room with people
Looking for a party? Tel Aviv doesn’t disappoint. Looking for breakfast? Tel Aviv doesn’t disappoint.
  6. InterContinental David Tel Aviv: Worth Burning the Cert

a city with a beach and water
If you’re looking to burn your certificate in style, go to the IC Tel Aviv David.
  7. Pinaloka: The Best Piña Colada in Puerto Rico?

In my book, Everyone’s Advice is Wrong . . . Including Mine (on sale here), I describe how, at the age of 18, I was “bound for one of those private hideaways showcased in Robb Report, and how “I could already taste the island rum in a delicious piña colada.” Eighteen years later, with one part of my fortuitous plan complete, it is time to cement the other.
