Points are best used to attend sporting events that otherwise would be cost prohibitive. Weeks before the Michigan OSU game, I bought tickets from StubHub and prepped for a victory over our foe. Alas, we lost off of bad execution and questionable refereeing but at least I have this trip report to show for it.
Here is a summary of how it all went down, one link at a time:
Thanksgiving is a time to see family, watch Lions football, and eat like a hungry wolf. This year it is also a time to plan my descent onto the great city of Columbus, Ohio for the best rivalry in all of college football.
The book of Revelation describes the end of days where good will battle evil once and for all. A glimpse of this fight will take place on November 26, 2016 when the hopefully undefeated Wolverines will take on a hopefully undefeated Buckeyes team in Columbus, Ohio.
The Sheraton Columbus at Capitol Square is a few miles from OSU’s campus and the party area of Short North. That’s not necessarily a bad thing if you are a Michigan fan and your team just lost off of bad execution and questionable refereeing.
What do you do in a city where everyone hates you? Do you cower and not wear your alma mater’s colors? Do you say, “May the best team win?” Or do you go full monty and floss your Michigan gear from head to toe?
I prefer aloft to Hyatt Place because they are livelier. Many Hyatt Places look like they are converted off brand hotels with a fresh coat of paint. That was not the case with the Hyatt Place Cleveland which is the second nicest Hyatt Place next to the DC Mall one. (no review of that one thanks to a lost phone)
I have multiple questions I would like to ask the reading public: First, how do new hotels not have the do not disturb electronic button next to the bed? Second, absent technology, why isn’t the sign already hanging on the door when I check in? Third, why doesn’t housekeeping know which guests are checking out?
I’m from Michigan so I know that Auburn Hills is not near Detroit. Downtown Detroit is forty-five minutes away. The closest affiliation Auburn Hills has with Detroit is my beloved Pistons who, incidentally, are leaving Auburn Hills for Detroit next year.
Glad the trip was good. Buckeye Pho, cool….. Great rivalry & game. Agree with poor execution, but can’t blame the refs. They didn’t’ throw the int…eeeees or fumble the ball on the goal line. I root for UM all but 2 weeks, OSU & MSU week.
Thanks for contributing to our thriving economy here in Central Ohio and glad you lost. TTUN has not won in Columbus since 2000 so you may have better luck doing a travel report in East Lansing at the Hampton Inn or Marriott next year. O-H-I-O!

You have to win by 40 if you go to Ohio. And they had their chances.
